Empatía cero: los perpetradores del mal

Abstract

Los conflictos armados eliminan la capacidad empática de los perpetradores con sus víctimas. Ello repercute en la configuración de nuevos deseos y creencias que moldean el carácter de los perpetradores del mal. Así, el perpetrador carece de todo sentimiento de culpa, no se conduele con el dolor y el sufrimiento del otro. Para el perpetrador, matar no se convierte en una transgresión moral. En ese sentido, el presente artículo busca comprender cómo, a partir de un cambio de deseos, se construye un enemigo, se convierte la violencia en una teatralización de exceso y existe una notable exculpación de los perpetradores sobre su actuar. Desconocer este tipo de deseos y creencias pone en entredicho la responsabilidad de los actores del conflicto y la posibilidad de pensar espacios de justicia. Todo desconocimiento sobre la actuación de los perpetradores limita la fiabilidad de un proceso de paz. En ese sentido, las cargas emocionales que asumen los perpetradores repercuten de manera directa en las formas como interactúan con sus víctimas y su posibilidad de acometer el mal.
