Abstract

Abstract:Some studies, which explore the relation between economic growth and environmental quality, attempt to prove that poverty exacerbates environmental degradation process. Just an hypothesis worthwhile to face from local urban realities is the fact that economic growth brings an opportunity to create sustainable urban sites and contributes to improve environmental damage subjects in the long run. This writing exposes a part of the main discussion about the related hypothesis and presents some exploratory exercise results, taking account empirical relation signals of the economic growth and environmental quality improvement (or degradation) in the Aburrá Valley Metropolitan Area particular stage.
