Protección económica para la vejez en Colombia: ¿estamos preparados para el envejecimiento de la población?

Abstract

Este artículo describe la situación y perspectivas de los principales mecanismos de generación de ingresos de las personas mayores en Colombia: pensiones contributivas y no contributivas; ahorro e inversión; y participación en el mercado laboral. Usando métodos de investigación mixta evidenciamos que se requieren reformas estructurales, enfocadas, entre otras, a: disminuir los niveles de informalidad laboral; igualar las condiciones por sexo del Sistema General de Pensiones; repensar los BEPS de modo que hagan parte de un sistema integrado de ahorro voluntario y promover el alfabetismo financiero.
