Abstract

“Esta nota tiene el propósito de analizar la efectividad de los instrumentos monetarios, cambiarios y de crédito del Banco de la República en el control de la inflación. En la primera parte analizaremos la relación entre moneda e inflación. En la segunda parte la relación entre crédito y reservas internacionales, y los medios de pago. A continuación se resumen algunos trabajos estadísticos hechos en Colombia sobre la relación entre moneda y precios, revisión que muestra que, aunque la inflación es afectada por la oferta monetaria, dicha relación es compleja y es claro que la oferta monetaria tiene un efecto muy parcial sobre los precios.”
