Valor agregado y contenido local en el sector automotor. A propósito de los sectores de ensamble

Abstract

“Varios analistas de la situación industrial de Colombia han venido mencionando que el crecimiento de la industria durante 1993 se debe básicamente al crecimiento del sector automotor. Argumentan además que aunque la producción del sector industrial ha aumentado bastante, el incremento del valor agregado ha sido menor debido a una ampliación del componente importado del sector automotriz. El presente documento trata ese tema, en las siguientes cinco secciones. Después de la introducción, la segunda sección analiza, el desempeno del sector automotriz en los últimos anos. En el tercer y cuarto apartes explican y definen los conceptos de ensamble, valor agregado y contenido local con el propósito de aclarar la confusión que tienen los analistas alrededor de los sectores «ensambladores». El cuarto aparte, hace una revisión de los costos y precios de los vehículos ensamblados en el país y finalmente, se analiza someramente cuál puede ser la situación del sector en el presente ano.”
