Los determinantes de la prima de riesgo país colombiana

Abstract

La necesidad de financiamiento externo del Gobierno Nacional Central ( GNC ) ha sido creciente en los últimos anos. Como se observa en el Gráfico 1, el saldo de la deuda externa del GNC se mantuvo relativamente estable durante los primeros anos de la década de los noventa, pero a partir de 1997 presentó una marcada tendencia al alza. En efecto, el saldo pasó de 8,9% del PIB (9.523 millones de dólares) en 1997 a 25,3% del PIB (19.530 millones de dólares) en 2003. El crecimiento del saldo de la deuda externa ha ido de la mano de un aumento en el pago de intereses al exterior, que pasaron de representar 0,5% del PIB en 1997 a 1,7% en 2003.
