El consumo privado en Colombia: historia y determinantes

Abstract

El consumo privado creció 3,87% durante 2004, lo que explica un poco más del 60% de la expansión de la economía colombiana durante el ano pasado que fue cercana a 4%. Aunque el crecimiento del consumo es el mayor en los últimos 10 anos, su comportamiento parece poco dinámico cuando se compara con los demás componentes de la demanda. De hecho, la inversión privada alcanzó crecimientos de 22% en 2003 y 14% en 2004 y las exportaciones aumentaron 4% y 6% respectivamente. Dado el peso del consumo privado dentro del producto interno bruto es poco probable que la economía colombiana supere tasas de crecimiento de 4% a menos que los hogares se decidan a aumentar sus niveles de consumo de manera sostenible.
