Flujos de capital privado en Colombia 1970-2004

Abstract

El propósito de este ensayo es ilustrar el comportamiento de los flujos privados de capital diferentes a la inversión extranjera directa en el período posterior a 1970. El espacio no nos permite comentar sobre la evolución de la inversión extranjera directa ni sobre la del endeudamiento externo del gobierno. Esos elementos han sido fundamentales para el financiamiento de la balanza de pagos y para entender la historia económica del país, pero su comportamiento responde a factores muy diferentes a los del endeudamiento y los flujos de portafolio del sector privado colombiano, en los cuales se concentra este artículo. En adelante utilizaremos el término flujos de capital para referirnos a estos últimos conceptos.
