Los efectos de la tasa de interés de usura en Colombia

Abstract

En el presente documento se evalúa el impacto del límite a las tasas de interés sobre la profundización financiera en Colombia para el período comprendido entre 1996 y 2006. Los resultados muestran que dicha regulación afecta negativamente la profundización financiera en especial en aquellos momentos en los cuales la tasa activa se acerca al límite establecido por la regulación. Otras medidas de represión financiera tales como el impuesto a las transacciones financieras, el encaje y las inversiones forzosas también afectan negativamente dicha profundización.
