Calidad de vida y gasto público social en Colombia: análisis por departamentos, 1993-2000

Abstract

Este documento muestra la relación existente entre gasto público social por Departamentosen Colombia y la calidad de vida. Parte del supuesto de la existencia de una relaciónsignificativa entre calidad de vida de los departamentos colombianos y el gasto públicosocial, utilizando inicialmente, un análisis gráfico y de indicadores simples de desarrollo,para luego explorar un modelo sencillo de panel datos en el período 1993-2000. Se determinala relevancia de los efectos fijos y aleatorios, al encontrar una influencia importantede los efectos aleatorios en el análisis de panel. Como aspecto notable se encuentra queno existe una relación significativa entre la calidad de vida y el gasto público social porDepartamentos, lo cual puede estar asociado con los múltiples problemas en la asignaciónde bienes públicos.
