Efecto del empoderamiento femenino sobre la nutrición infantil en Colombia

Abstract

RESUMEN: Este artículo estima, usando variables instrumentales, el efecto causal del empoderamiento femenino sobre el estado nutricional de ninos menores de 5 anos de edad en Colombia. Se utilizan como instrumentos el porcen-taje de mujeres elegidas en la Asamblea Departamental y en la Cámara de Representantes, ambos retardados en el tiempo. Los resultados indican que el empoderamiento femenino reduce la desnutrición aguda y la desnutri-ción global en 3,52 puntos porcentuales y 5,95 puntos porcentuales, respectivamente. Se recomienda revisar los lineamientos de los programas relacionados con la política pública de equidad de género y nutrición infantil del país con el fin de disenar políticas complementarias que mientras fortalecen la autonomía femenina, re-dundan en beneficio para los ninos
