¿Somos Conscientes del Racismo? Cómo las Categorías Étnico-Raciales, el Color de la Piel y el Mestizaje inciden en el Reconocimiento del Racismo en Colombia

Abstract

RESUMEN: Este artículo examina el efecto de las categorías étnico-raciales, el color de la piel y el mestizaje sobre la percep-ción del racismo en Colombia. Utilizando modelos de regresión logística ordenada sobre una muestra nacional del Barómetro de las Américas 2010 y 2011, se encuentra que las categorías de auto-identificación étnico-racial y el reconocimiento del racismo no están asociados, mientras que tener tonos de piel más oscuros aumenta la probabilidad de reconocer este fenómeno. Los hallazgos también revelan que el deseo individual de querer tener un color de piel más claro, entendido como parte de la lógica del blanqueamiento dentro del mestizaje, tiene una fuerte asociación negativa. Este artículo contribuye a los estudios del racismo en América Latina y propone repensarse el uso de las categorías étnico-raciales y el papel del color de la piel en el análisis de siste-mas racializados
