Del crecimiento económico al desarrollo sostenible: una aproximación

Abstract

El artículo hace una descripción de los conceptos: crecimiento, desarrollo económico y desarrollo sostenible. En cada uno de ellos se examina el origen y la evolución que han tenido. Se destaca, cómo a partir de los anos sesenta,los temas ambientales ganan importancia y participación en los debates relacionados con la política económica y la protección de los recursos naturales. Se subraya el protagonismo de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas en el estudio de temas tan amplios y complejos como son desarrollo económico y desarrollo sostenible. De igual forma, se enfatiza que a partir del Informe Brundtland existe un consenso aparente en el concepto de desarrollo sostenible, que ha generado una serie de cuestionamientos en pro y en contra del mismo.
