The main aim of this paper is to analyze the evolution of the determiningfactors of the relative economic development of Andalucia on theSpanish regional context between 1980-2000, as well as the obstacles that thesefactors raise, favouring the unequal model of economic growth of Andalucia. We conclude that despite the advances in physical capital, human capital andtechnological innovation, they have been insufficient for Andalucia to achievea bigger process of real convergence towards the Spanish regions, mainly dueto the presence of the following obstacles: a high turnout of agricultural activitieswith low productivity, a strong weight of the low-relative productivitymarket services and a weak industry and energy fabric wich shows defficienciesin productivity.
