¿Cómo compiten las firmas latinoamericanas en los mercados globalizados? La estrategia del grupo empresarial antioqueño para enfrentar la competencia

En este artículo se presentan losresultados de la investigación que sedesarrolló en Colombia, como partedel proyecto a nivel de América Latina,identificado como Can LatinAmerican firms compete?, el cualfue auspiciado por Thunderbird:The Garvin School of InternationalManagement, con el fin de establecercómo han logrado algunas firmaslatinoamericanas extenderse exitosamenteen los mercados internacionalese identificar la presencia demodelos y características comunes aestas empresas y sus pares en otrasregiones del mundo. En Colombiase seleccionó al Grupo EmpresarialAntioqueño y en particular su industriade alimentos, la cual conformael conglomerado de empresas deInversiones Nacional de Chocolates,como objetivo del estudio, teniendoen cuenta que este es posiblementeel grupo que reúne las mayoresrealizaciones en el proceso de internacionalización.En el trabajose identifican las característicassobresalientes que han permitido eldesarrollo de competencias centrales(core competences), sobre las cualesse han establecido las estrategiaspara penetrar exitosamente en diferentesmercados internacionales, elaprendizaje de las diferentes culturaspropias de esos mercados, y losprocesos que se desarrollaron paraenfrentar los riesgos, darles valor alos productos y enfrentar la crecientecompetencia de otras firmas multinacionales.
