Cuenta especial de cambios: Descripción y análisis de su evolución reciente

Abstract

El presente estudio persigue varios objetivos. El primero de ellos es realizar un recuento de qué es y cómo funciona la cuenta especial de cambios. En segundo término se busca hacer un análisis de su evolución reciente y de las fuerzas institucionales y económicas que determinaron dicha evolución. Atención especial recibe el comportamiento de las utilidades de compraventa de divisas, quizás el renglón de la cuenta menos comprendido por quienes no han tenido oportunidad de detenerse en su estudio. En tercer lugar, se analiza la posible evolución de la cuenta bajo distintos supuestos acerca del manejo de variables claves de la política macroeconómica. Finalmente, se intenta profundizar acerca de la naturaleza de algunos ingresos de la cuenta a fin de determinar si los mismos constituyen, o no, emisión primaria neta.
