Ajustando el desequilibrio en la cuenta corriente: Nueva evidencia para Colombia

Abstract

El objetivo del presente trabajo es utilizar una metodología analítica disenada por Balassa, et al. (1981), que nos permita cuantificar de manera aproximada los "shocks" externos y las respuestas de política a dichos "shocks" en Colombia durante 1975-1982. La metodología utilizada no está exenta de críticas, y algunas de ellas se plantean en forma explícita más adelante. La implementación misma de la metodología también invita a serios cuestionamientos, siendo uno de ellos el desconocimiento que a todo lo largo se hace del fenómeno de las exportaciones ilegales. Creemos, sin embargo, que las principales conclusiones alcanzadas se mantienen, independientemente de la inclusión o no del comercio ilegal.
