Una reflexión sobre la economía del desarrollo y el desarrollo económico

Abstract

El objetivo del presente ensayo es efectuar una discusión, ciertamente en forma breve, sobre los principales paradigmas del desarrollo, contraponer sus tesis centrales y evaluar sus alcances frente a los hechos que pretenden explicar e interpretar. Originalmente este trabajo se presentócomo ponencia en el 11 Congreso de Economistas de la Universidad Nacional, a finales de 1981. A partir de entonces ha recibido diversos comentarios y críticas (tanto positivos como negativos) a las versiones de difusión limitada que han circulado en distintas universidades. A pesar de ello, y tal vez debido a ello, el autor considera útil publicarlo en su forma original, a la espera de poder contrastar un número más amplio de opiniones.Las únicas modificaciones efectuadas al texto, han consistido en ligeros cambios de redacción y en la supresión de algunas referencias de pie de página para dejar sólo aquellas que de alguna manera contribuyen a ilustrar los argumentos expuestos.
