El dinero y el ahorro: cómo las definiciones pueden afectar las políticas

Abstract

El uso impreciso de términos tales como dinero, ahorro, crédito e inversión da lugar a diversas confusiones. Varias de ellas se despejan si se toma en cuenta que la porción mas importante de los medios de pago es aquella que presta un servicio diferente, para el cual existe una demanda y que entrana un costo que la comunidad paga de diversas maneras. El dinero así definido, esta sujeto a las leyes de la oferta y la demanda y al control de su volumen, en especial porque es un bien que se encuentra en cantidad limitada. Se aclara entonces que la demanda no es mas que el inverso de la velocidad ingreso del dinero.
