Arrow: la elección, los valores y la ideología del mercado

Abstract

En nuestro medio se conocem más los trabajos de Arrow sobre el equilibrio de sus estudios sobre la teoría de la elección. Este artículo recuerda el postulado central de Arrow: los mecanismos de mercado son incapaces de resolver el conflicto entre valores individuales y elección social. También existe conflicto entre la evolución de los valores y la formación de los deseos. La teoría de la elección ofrece elementos muy valiosos para entender las contradicciones a las que conduce el individualismo metodológico neoclásico. También pone en tela de juicio la forma indebida en que el discurso neoliberal se ha apropiado de la teoría neoclásica.
