Bejarano frente a la política comercial agropecuaria

Abstract

Este artículo analiza la evolución del pensamiento de Jesús A. Bejarano sobre la política comercial agropecuaria. Para ello, se examinan los trabajos que Bejarano escribió cuando comenzó la apertura de la agricultura a principios de la decáda de los noventa, los artículos que escribió a mediados de la década y la influencia que ejerció sobre el pensamiento de la SAC. El artículo muestra que pese a que él se apartó considerablemente de la opinión simplista de que lo más adecuado es dejar la reestructuración de la agricultura exclusivamente a las fuerzas del mercado, tampoco defendió una política de transición gradual y de largo plazo que aumentara la eficiencia y la competitividad, y poco se inclinaba a impulsar políticas de ingresos que favorecíeran a grupos agrícolas específicos.
