Las limitaciones de la utilidad marginal

Abstract

Este artículo examina las limitaciones de la teoría marginalista como teoría científica. Senala su carácter estático, que le impide explicar el cambio económico y social, y desnuda sus fundamentos filosóficos y metodológicos. Quienes afirman que la escuela institucionalista menosprecia la teoría encontrarán que, desde su fundador, ésta ha sido un tema esencial. Veblen critica la concepción utilitarista, el individualismo metodológico y la omisión del papel de las instituciones, del conocimiento y del cambio técnico, y de la acción colectiva, que hoy parecen aportes novedosos de la escuela de la elección pública y del neoinstitucionalismo.
