Incidencia de la inflación sobre la distribución del ingreso. El caso colombiano

Abstract

Este trabajo pretende evaluar, para el caso colombiano, si lainflación aumenta la desigualdad del ingreso al perjudicar a losmás pobres. Con la ayuda de las teorías de salarios rezagadosy deudor-prestamista, asó como también de estudios empíricos anivel internacional, se presentan las formas cómo la inflaciónafecta la distribución del ingreso. Se encuentra que la inflaciónno afecta necesariamente a los más pobres y, por elcontrario, puede ser progresiva como ha ocurrido en otros países.Para Colombia, la evidencia empírica indica que la inflación noha sido regresiva debido a que hubo una inflación de tipoinercial muy estable durante un largo período, sin haber llegadoa niveles de hiperinflación como en otras economías latinoamericanas.
