Clubes de convergencia regional y sus determinantes en Perú

Abstract

La convergencia entre regiones es importante, para que, con el tiempo, las regiones más ricas y las más pobres logren un nivel de desarrollo similar. En este sentido, la siguiente investigación, por un lado, determina la existencia de convergencia global o clubes de convergencia entre las regiones en Perú y, por otro, explica los factores que inciden en dicha convergencia. Para determinar los clubes de convergencia, se siguió la metodología de factor de carga de Phillips y Sul (2007) y datos de panel en los periodos 2004-2008. Los resultados revelan la existencia de tres clubes de convergencia según el producto interno bruto (PIB) per cápita y la productividad laboral. Se concluye que la conformación de los clubes según el PIB per cápita y la productividad laboral dependen directamente del capital humano, la transferencia de canon y la ubicación geográfica. Estos hallazgos, sugieren que el Estado debe priorizar a las regiones de clubes más pobres.
