Ralentización del crecimiento y manufacturas en México

Abstract

En este artículo se demuestra la existencia de un proceso de ralentización del crecimiento de la economía mexicana durante los últimos veintiocho años, lo que ha tenido como principal consecuencia un déficit en la creación de empleo. De acuerdo con la teoría kaldoriana del crecimiento uno de los factores que explica esta situación es la insuficiencia dinámica del sector industrial-manufacturero. Lo anterior se demuestra a través del uso de un modelo de mínimos cuadrados ordinarios y un test de causalidad de Granger. Los resultados sugieren que el crecimiento depende, entre otras cosas, de una nueva política industrial que fomente el desarrollo de la producción manufacturera en el marco del contexto internacional vigente. En el documento se sugieren algunos elementos para la construcción de tal política.
