Modelos de desarrollo regional: teorías y factores determinantes

Abstract

En el presente artículo enunciamos las diferentes perspectivas y enfoques que tratan de explicar la importancia de la dimensión regional del desarrollo en un contexto de transformaciones globales y reestructuración productiva de la economía, para entender y analizar las especificidades y procesos que ocurren en los espacios regionales y que influyen en la organización del territorio. Para ello, consideramos como punto de arranque los procesos de cambio estructural de la actividad económica mundial, acaecidos durante las últimas décadas del siglo XX, que obligaron a buscar nuevas alternativas de desarrollo local y regional con modelos ajustados a los nuevos paradigmas de la economía mundial. Podemos distinguir dos aspectos fundamentales que se abstraen de estos enfoques teóricos del desarrollo económico regional: por un lado, la importancia de la dimensión territorial y, por otro, el carácter endógeno del proceso.
