Les multinationales françaises, fer de lance du commerce extérieur français, mais aussi de sa dégradation

Abstract

Les entreprises multinationales françaises contribuent positivement au solde commercial des biens, contrairement aux multinationales étrangères ou aux entreprises franco-françaises. C’est pourtant le tassement de leur excédent, de près de 2 points de PIB entre 2000 et 2018, qui explique la détérioration du solde commercial français depuis deux décennies. Il ne traduit pas une mauvaise spécialisation des multinationales françaises au début des années 2000 ou leur rachat par des investisseurs étrangers, mais bien une tendance spécifique des secteurs qu’elles dominent, au-delà des conditions de coût communes à toutes les entreprises sur le sol français.
