Was sagen die Ergebnisse der ifo Konjunkturumfragen aus? Eine Interpretationshilfe

Abstract

Neben dem ifo Geschäftsklimaindex Deutschland entstehen aus den monatlichen ifo Konjunkturumfragen zahlreiche weitere Indikatoren, die auf den standardisierten Fragen an rund 9 000 Unternehmen basieren. Diese liefern differenzierte Informationen zur wirtschaftlichen Lage und zu den Erwartungen in den Bereichen Industrie, Dienstleistungen, Handel und Bau. Der vorliegende Artikel gibt einen strukturierten Überblick über die wichtigsten Fragetypen – von ordinalen Skalen über Ja/Nein-Fragen bis hin zu quantitativen Angaben – und erklärt, wie aus den Antworten wirtschaftlich interpretierbare Kennzahlen entstehen. Ergänzend wird erläutert, welche methodischen Schritte (z. B. Gewichtung, Saisonbereinigung, Indexierung) zwischen Rohdaten und veröffentlichter Zeitreihe liegen. Anhand ausgewählter Beispiele – etwa Geschäftsklima, Geschäftsunsicherheit, Lagerbestände oder Produktionsbehinderungen – werden die Besonderheiten und Aussagen der Indikatoren praxisnah illustriert.
