„Zusammen gegen Rechts“ – Demonstrationen und die politische Geografie ostdeutscher Bundesländer

Abstract

Die vom Bündnis „Zusammen gegen Rechts“ zu Beginn des Jahres 2024 organisierten Demonstrationen wurden vielfach als Ausdruck einer breiten gesellschaftlichen Mobilisierung gegen Rechtsextremismus verstanden. Eine bislang jedoch kaum untersuchte Frage ist, in welchem Zusammenhang diese Proteste mit den Ergebnissen der darauffolgenden Landtagswahlen stehen. Dies wird im Folgenden für die Landtagswahlen 2024 in Brandenburg, Sachsen und Thüringen deskriptiv und korrelativ betrachtet. Es zeigt sich, dass Gemeinden mit Demonstrationen einen geringeren Zuwachs des AfD-Zweitstimmenanteils aufweisen. In Regressionsanalysen verschwindet dieser Zusammenhang jedoch weitgehend, sobald das Ausgangsniveau des AfD-Anteils und strukturelle Merkmale berücksichtigt werden. Erkennbar bleibt vor allem ein räumliches Muster im Umfeld der Demonstrationsorte.
