Wie kann Sachsen seine Potenziale im Klimaschutz ausschöpfen?

Abstract

Im sächsischen Koalitionsvertrag 2019-2024 sind eindeutige Maßnahmen für den Klimaschutz festgehalten, die bis zum Ende der Legislaturperiode umgesetzt werden sollten. Tatsächlich wurde der Klimaschutz in Sachsen in den vergangenen fünf Jahren eher zögerlich angegangen. Die Zunahme von Extremwetterereignissen und nicht zuletzt auch die Energiepreiskrise 2022 haben die Notwendigkeit einer Beschleunigung dieser Maßnahmen jedoch nachdrücklich vor Augen geführt. Hinzu kommt, dass sich mit dem Regierungswechsel im Bund zu Beginn desselben Jahres die bundespolitischen Prioritäten deutlich verschoben haben. Die zwischenzeitlich beschlossenen ambitionierteren Ziele insbesondere für den Ausbau regenerativer Energien sowie zur Reduktion von Treibhausgasemissionen in den vom Klimaschutzgesetz erfassten Sektoren verpflichten auch Sachsen mehr zu tun. In diesem Beitrag werden verschiedene Handlungsmöglichkeiten dargestellt.
