Abstract

"Was haben Alberta und Sachsen gemein und was hat deren Regierungen dazu bewogen, eine Partnerschaft zwischen den beiden weit entfernten und anscheinend ungleichen Regionen einzugehen", mag sich der interessierte Leser fragen. Zwischen beiden Regionen gibt es durchaus eine Reihe von Parallelen: Die Sächsische Staatskanzlei hat mit dem Ministerium für internationale und intergouvernementale Angelegenheiten Albertas vereinbart, die im Februar 2008 ausgelaufene Kooperationsvereinbarung zu erneuern. Dazu soll anlässlich eines in diesem Jahr geplanten Treffens der beiden Regierungschefs eine aktualisierte, der tatsächlichen Entwicklung der Beziehungen angepasste Gemeinsame Erklärung unterzeichnet werden.
