Enttaeuschende Wachstumszahlen fuer die neuen Laender - Aufschwung Ost ade?

Abstract

Das niedrige BIP-Wachstum 2000 signalisiert nicht ein Nachlassen der Wachstumskraefte, sondern ist auf einen weiteren Schub im Schrumpfungsprozess der ueberdimensionierten ostdeutschen Bauwirtschaft zurueckzufuehren. Wenn dieser Anpassungsprozess ausgestanden ist, duerfte die ostdeutsche Wirtschaft wieder staerker als die westdeutsche wachsen. Der Aufholprozess wuerde allerdings wenigstens 40 Jahre dauern. Andere Laender zeigen, dass es schneller geht. Die Traeger der Wirtschafts- und Tarifpolitik muessen vor alllem die Wachstumsbedingungen fuer den Dienstleistungsbereich in Ostdeutschland verbessern.
