Ist die EU-Osterweiterung finanzierbar? # 2

Abstract

Im März 1998 fand eine Europakonferenz statt, auf der die ersten sechs Beitrittskandidaten zur EU ausgewählt wurden. In diesem Artikel werden die wirt-schaftlichen Vorraussetzungen, welche mit diesen Kandidaten abgesprochen wurden, aufgezählt und erörtert. In dem Text erwähnte Studien lassen erkennen,wie schwer Wachstumsprognosen für die ost- und südosteuropäischen Länder zu erstellen sind. Unsichere Prognosen und möglicherweise sehr viel höhere Ausgabenbelastungen des EU-Haushalts begründen ein sorgfältiges und ausführliches Diskutieren der Pro-bleme einer Osterweiterung der EU.
