Ist die EU-Erweiterung finanzierbar? (Teil I)

Abstract

Die europäische Union muß sich mit der Aufnahme von Gesprächen mit potentiellen Beitrittskandidaten auch über die finanziellen Belastungen Gedanken machen. Die Heranführung der 13 Beitrittskandidaten an die EU wird auch schon finanziell unterstützt, um Demokratie, Rechtsstaatlichkeit und die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung aufzubauen. Aber auch auf Seiten der EU sind Reformen notwendig, um die Handlungsfähigkeit ihrer Strukturen und die Teilhabe an der innerge-meinschaftlichen Willensbildung zu gewährleisten. Hierbei geht es auch darum, daß die finanziellen Belastungen der neuen und alten Mitglieder in überschauba-ren Grenzen bleiben.
