Konjunktur in Japan : tiefste Rezession der Nachkriegszeit

Abstract

In den drei zurückliegenden Quartalen (10/97 - 6/98) verringerte sich die wirtschaftliche Leistung Japans um 1,5%, 5,2% und 3,3%, jeweils im Vergleich zum Vorjahr. Angesichts verschlechterter Absatz- und Ertragsaussichten war der Einbruch bei der privaten Investitionstätigkeit besonders stark. Auch der private Konsum und die Exportnachfrage sind weiterhin rückläufig. Die Wirtschaftspolitik geriet unter massiven Handlungszwang und so wurde die Fiskalpolitk auf Expansion umgeschaltet, die Geldpolitik hat ihre expansive Ausrichtung weiter verstärkt und es wurden die finanziellen und institutionellen Vorraussetzungen für eine umfassende Bankensanierung geschaffen. Diese Maßnahmen dürften aber kaum ausreichen um die gesamtwirtschafliche Nachfragelücke zu schließen.
