Die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung der Leipziger Messen auf dem alten und neuen Messegelände

Abstract

Die Leipziger Messe wird auch in den nächsten Jahren auf finanzielle Zuschüsse des Freistaates Sachsen und der Stadt Leipzig angewiesen sein, was immer wieder Anlaß zu heftiger Kritik gibt. Die in diesem Zusammenhang vorgebrachten Argumente orientieren sich jedoch häufig einseitig an betriebswirtschaftlichen Kriterien und überssehen die besondere wirtschaftliche Situation der neuen Bundesländer im allgemeinen und der Leipziger Messe im besonderen. Das ifo Institut wurde von der Leipziger Messe GmbH beauftragt, die messeinduzierten Ausgaben von Ausstellern und Besuchern in den Jahren 1994 bis 1996 auf der Basis von empirisch abgesicherten Befragungen und Hochrechnungen zu ermitteln sowie ihre primären und sekundären gesamtwirtschaftlichen Effekte.
