Indiens Integration in die Weltwirtschaft : eine Bestandsaufnahme

Abstract

Eine fast vierzig Jahre lang betriebene Politik der Importsubstitution hatte dazu geführt, daß Indien fast vollständig von der internationalen Arbeitsteilung abgekoppelt war. Erst im Juli 1991 wurde eine außenwirtschaftliche Krise zum Anlaß genommen, umfangreiche Strukturreformen einzuleiten. Ein zentraler Bestandteil der Wirtschaftsreformen waren Liberalisierungsmaßnahmen im Bereich des Außenhandels und des Regimes für ausländische Direktinvestitionen, die auf eine rasche Integration Indiens in die Weltwirtschaft abzielten. Der Beitrag gibt einen kurzen Überblick über den gegenwärtigen Stand des indischen Integrationsprozesses und zeigt die Probleme der Handelsreformen auf sowie aktuelle Probleme und die Zukunftsaussichten.
