Bergbau und verarbeitendes Gewerbe in Sachsen : steigende Umsätze bei abnehmender Beschäftigung

Abstract

Der durch die Wirtschafts- und Währungsunion ausgelöste Strukturwandel führte in Sachsen besonders im industriellen Sektor zu Einbrüchen in der Produktion und der Beschäftigung. Dabei stellte die aus der staatsmonopolistischen Steuerung der Wirtschaft resultierende mangelnde Wettbewerbsfähigkeit neben dem Wegbrechen traditioneller Absatzmärkte die größte Schwierigkeit für die sächsische Industrie dar. Hier deuten sich nunmehr positive Entwicklungen an. Dazu tragen hauptsächlich die umfangreichen Investitionen zur Schaffung eines wettbewerbsfähigen Kapitalstocks bei, die zunehmend produktionswirksam werden.Die Zahl der Betriebe nimmt zu. Im Bergbau waren 1993 vier Betriebe tätig; im Juli 1994 erhöhte sich die Zahl von 4 auf 7 Betriebe. Im Durchschnitt des Jahres 1993 wurden im produzierenden Gewerbe Sachsens 2.096 Betriebe registriert, im Vergleich zu 2.061 Betriebe im Vorjahr. Die Juliwerte der Umsätze des gesamten produzierenden Gewerbes stiegen zwischen 1993 und 1994 um 5,7 % auf 2,5 Mrd. DM. Im Bergbau verringerte sich der Umsatz um 10,0 % auf 108,7 Mill. DM, während er im verarbeitenden Gewerbe um 6,5 % zunahm und 2,4 Mrd. DM erreichte.
