Abstract

Industry 4.0 represents one of the most significant economic transformations of the twenty-first century, marking the transition from traditional industrial processes to intelligent, interconnected, and fully digitalized systems. By integrating technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, advanced robotics, cloud computing, and big data analytics, this new industrial paradigm has the potential to redefine productivity, competitiveness, and the ways in which companies engage with global markets. For Romania, Industry 4.0 constitutes both an opportunity and a test of economic maturity. Its effective implementation can stimulate innovation, attract investment, and strengthen the country's position within international value chains. However, the adoption of these emerging technologies requires substantial investment, workforce adaptation, and the establishment of a supportive institutional framework. This article examines the ways in which Industry 4.0 influences Romania’s economy and identifies strategic directions that may enable the country to fully capitalize on its potential.
