Abstract
Accelerated digitalization and the continuous increase in the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in all spheres of economic activities are already causing changes in the labor market for IT professionals globally, generating justified concerns if we think about the profound changes expected at all levels of professions and jobs in the coming years. Even if, according to statistical data, there is still a high demand for IT professionals, the risks generated by the digital transformation of the business environment, as well as the need to change the skills of employees, including those in the IT field, are evident for many categories of them. In this context, the paper analyzes how artificial intelligence could reconfigure the labor market in the IT sector, considering the trends already manifested at global level regarding the adaptation of IT occupations to intelligent automation reflected in the specialized literature in order to identify determinants of the evolution of IT jobs in the medium and long term and to delineate the IT sub-fields of activity likely to be more vulnerable, respectively those that can adapt more easily while remaining somewhat stable in the medium and long term. In addition, the paper aims to identify ways to adapt the skills of IT professionals so that they remain relevant to new emerging technologies.
