Abstract

During the period 2006-2023, Romania recorded considerable economic growth, but the distribution of the benefits of growth remains unequal. Starting with this problem encountered in society, we analyzed multiple bibliographic sources, performed descriptive analysis, and used an econometric linear regression model to identify the factors that influence income inequality. Following the analysis, we propose public policy directions to reduce social instability. The data set for the period 2006-2023 was selected from Eurostat. The OLS model estimates the Gini coefficient as a function of log (GDP per capita), life expectancy, and the Human Development Index (HDI).
