Abstract

The economic reality of the Romanian space describes a different unemployment rate depending on the environment, age, education at national level. Forms of employment in rural areas tend to be predominantly permanent in nature, to the detriment of temporary or seasonal work. The elements of influence on the individual, which affect the decision to work or the option to choose a satisfactory job are financial and social conditions. Influencing factors such as the level of education and qualification, the level of income per person or household, the phenomenon of seasonality of work in different economic sectors, constantly change the level of employment, as well as the contractual form in which the work is carried out. This article describes the evolution of unemployment between 1992 and 2024, describes the interaction of economic and social indicators on the unemployment rate in Romania and draws conclusions on how to reduce unemployment and improve the situation on the labor market. The method of analysis used in this paper is quantitative. The highest value of the unemployment rate was recorded in 2000, reaching up to 12%. As for the age categories, until 2000 the most affected category was those under 25 years old, with a lower level of education, and after 2000 people aged between 40 and 49 years old were the most affected.
