The year 2022 will go down in history as a very turbulent one that left a lot of suffering on the European continent, bringing back into view a problem that was thought to never be relevant again - war. Against the background of this cataclysm, its dramatic consequences were felt in many countries of the world and on different continents, in many of them with serious problems at the level of the national economy, the worst of which is the economic crisis. In this context, the purpose of the article is to analyze the crisis as one of the main macroeconomic imbalances, the specifics of the present overlapping crisis in the Republic of Moldova, the crisis management mechanisms, as well as some good practices for overcoming the crisis by improving the educational system. Since the article was developed with the assistance of the QFORTE project,2 special attention was paid to the analysis of the possibilities of higher education to contribute, by increasing the quality of higher education, to the training of professionals needed by society to overcome crisis situations. In the process of researching the topic, the authors used methods of analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, extrapolation and generalization of data, comparative analysis and other methods specific to scientific research. Results. The research methodology used allowed the identification of the typology and hierarchy of overlapping crises that are currently manifesting in the Republic of Moldova and in Europe, these being determined in particular by the security crisis, triggered by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The practical significance of the research results. It consists in identifying solutions to overcome crises, including through the creation of specific management mechanisms. Thus, by reforming some fields crucial for the present and the future of the country, such as that of education, it becomes possible to overcome the critical situations created in that field. And to discover the benefits it can bring to society as a whole, including preventing and overcoming crisis situations in the future.
