Abstract

It is essential, in the operation of economic entities, to achieve efficient management of inventories. Directly linked to the production program in industrial enterprises and sales program in commercial enterprises, supplies require a particular study. Because the supply process in a company is subject to extremely varied factors, inventory management is a complex and complicated process. Presenting the supply methods is the first issue addressed in this paper. The system of constant replenishment, the system with fixed periodicity and just-in-time method are described succinctly, presenting both their advantages and limits. The research continues with the identification of methods for controlling the physical state of inventories. The evolution of stocks of raw materials, materials, goods purchased can be analyzed both physically and economically. In addition to controlling the physical state of stocks, an important role is played by the control of the input-output flows. Determining the minimum quantity level beyond which replenishment must be performed is an important decision for the entire production and selling process. It is highlighted the importance of having an alert scheme in the supply activity and it is presented a model through which inputs (supplies) can be triggered and allows a good adaptation to the changes that may occur during the activity. Research can be used by any economic entity in order to improve economic performance by ensuring continuity of business activities by avoiding stockouts and eliminating overstocking.
