Abstract

Romania is one of the EU countries with a high agricultural potential. The period of transition towards market economy has generated structural disadvantages in Romanian agriculture that led to disparities in performance compared to the countries with developed agriculture. The analysis presented in this paper highlights the quantitative and qualitative performance of agriculture in Romania and developed countries (Germany and France) or which later joined the EU (Bulgaria, Hungary and Poland). The survey shows that Romania's agricultural potential is insufficiently exploited and its performance is lower than the EU average and developed countries.
