Abstract

Questo articolo traccia un quadro storiografico degli ultimi due decenni dei rapporti tra storia economica e storia del lavoro delle donne, focalizzandosi su alcune linee storiografiche e tematiche che, spesso anche intrecciandosi, hanno prodotto risultati significativi sia dal punto di vista metodologico che dei contenuti, per la storia economica italiana e per alcune tradizioni storiografiche dell’Europa occidentale a noi vicine. Dopo aver riepilogato brevemente gli studi pionieri attraverso i quali il lavoro delle donne e un approccio di genere entrano nella storia economica, e aver presentato alcune considerazioni sulla situazione italiana, l’articolo ripercorre in maniera trasversale rispetto alle singole tradizioni storiografiche alcuni dibattiti centrali del rapporto tra donne, lavoro ed economia in epoca moderna: donne e corporazioni, crescita economica e demografica e lavoro delle donne, calcolo del FLFPR, industrious revolution e little divergence. Si interroga poi sui recenti risultati della feminist economics dedicata al lavoro in famiglia (lavoro produttivo e riproduttivo, lavoro domestico e lavoro di cura) e si conclude con la presentazione del progetto GaW e della ricerca “verb-oriented
