Digital Technologies and Blue-Collar Worker Employment in a Manufacturing System of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises

Abstract

L’impatto delle tecnologie digitali sull’occupazione e sui profili lavorativi è da tempo oggetto di studio. Tuttavia, si conosce ancora poco sulla relazione fra tecnologie 4.0 e cambiamenti della forza lavoro operaia nelle piccole e medie imprese manifatturiere. Grazie all’integrazione di fonti informative originali di Uniocamere e Veneto Lavoro è stato possibile studiare come si modifica la composizione delle figure operaie nelle imprese manifatturiere a seguito dell’introduzione di diversi tipi di tecnologie digitali. I risultati presentati in questo articolo, riferiti a un esteso campione di PMI del Veneto, mostrano effetti ambivalenti: le imprese che adottano tecnologie 4.0 accrescono l’occupazione, ma tendono a prevalere le mansioni meno qualificate, a fronte di una riduzione di lavoratori specializzati nelle attività meccaniche e del made in Italy. Questi risultati richiamano la necessità di costruire politiche del lavoro mirate ad accrescere nuove competenze dei lavoratori non solo digitali ma anche cognitive e creative
