Abstract

In 2015, the French deputy Éva Sas succeeded in having passed the law n° 2015-411, ?aimed at taking into account the new indicators of wealth in the definition of public policies.? The economic knowledge embodied in these indicators thus entered the political?administrative sphere. Within this sphere, the indicators circulate through multiple social spaces that use them in a variety of ways: the National Assembly, the government, consultative bodies such as the European Economic and Social Committee and France Stratégie. Through successive shifts, the content of these new indicators has undergone a profound metamorphosis. What was originally intended as critical economic knowledge has finally emerged as a harmless policy instrument.
