Qui a le droit de parler d’économie ? La parole économique légitime au prisme de l’édition économique contemporaine

Abstract

In this article, we propose to study the construction of a plural and competitive offer of discourse on economics through the contemporary market of economics books. Through a multiple correspondence analysis carried out on 147 recent authors of economics books, we first objectify the resources and titles in the name of which the authors speak, then we highlight the specific effects of the publishers themselves, endowed with unequal resources, on economic discourse. The study thus reveals the importance of academic capital as a principle of legitimizing economic discourse, but also how the functioning of the editorial field influences the supply of economic books by promoting the publication of multi-positioned experts.
