Le mirage du libéralisme hayékien

Abstract

This paper is aimed at studying the Hayekian representation of « true liberalism » and evaluating its consistency. In order to show that intellectual and economical freedoms are inextricably linked, Hayek uses classical liberal arguments. But he also supports an evolutionist view about the universal efficiency of competition and market. Yet this evolutionist conception is incoherent since it implies both that ?the spontaneous order of the market? does, and does not, rest on constructed rules.
